1. Carlisle Farmers Market

Fri 3rd Feb 9am until 3pm

Managed by Sustainable Brampton, Carlisle Farmers Market takes place every first weekend throughout the year until November.  With a plethora of other markets taking first dibs in the Welly round-up, it’s about time that Carlisle’s Famers Market got a mention.  With everything from free-range meat, fish, eggs, cheese and bread, to home-made cakes,jams and chutneys get down to Carlisle this Friday for your artisanal New Year’s fix…

2. Cumbria Life Culture Awards 2017, Theatre By The Lake

Friday 3rd Feb starts 7h30pm, tickets cost £20 each

Billed as Cumbria’s second arts ‘Oscars’, book your ticket to the celebration of the county’s arts scene.  Hosted by broadcaster Stuart Maconie (who? just kidding…), there will be performances throughout the evening from the county’s most talented performers including teenage saxophonist Jess gillam and folk legend Maddy Prior.  Organised by Cumbria’s very own slick publication, Cumbria Life Magazine, this event is definitely on the must list for luvvies and art critiques the county over.

3. First Race Meeting of 2017, Carlisle Racecourse

Wednesday 8th February, 11h50am to 17h35pm

And they’re off! It’s the first meeting of 2017 so get your glad rags on and head down to Carlisle Racecource for an afternoon of racing (but don’t forget to wrap up warm – obvs). General Admission tickets £14 each.  Swanky restaurant packages £74 per person upwards.  Buy your tickets here.

4. Valentines Tea In The Castle, Muncaster Castle

Sunday 12th February, 2h30pm
