So that’s the first May Bank Holiday done and dusted. Now it’s time to get seriously prepared for Monday number 2. Ever the optimistic, I’m planning for a warm and pleasant weekend come the end of the month. Mr Welly will be dusting off the bbq, ready to re-kindle those hunter-gatherer skills and I shall invite the hardiest of outdoor drinking pals to join us.
This year we’ve re-vamped our patio area, a euphemism when considering the sheer amount of hard labour and endless weekends hubby and I have spent digging up the old flags, shifting hardcore and gravel. I’ve gained muscle, earned kudos (from other half) and at last it’s nearly finished (watch this space for the final da-dah!) and I for one am looking forward to long lazy summer evenings (yes I am deluded – well look at me?!) supping fizz with friends and scoffing burnt sausages – hurrah for the British barbecue culture 🙂
If you, like me, love an excuse to purchase more groovy homeware stuff, then shun those cheap paper plates and invest in some rather gorgeous outdoor tableware from Lakeland.
These plates and dishes are made from good-old melamine but unlike the cracked and gaudy selection from childhood camping days of old, this new Tivoli selection exclusive to Lakeland looks uncannily like hand-thrown stoneware pottery. The unobtrusive designs and mellow patterns will complement any garden party or boozy bbq. Reasonably priced too, a side plate costs just £3.59 with dinner plates at £4.59 each. Perfect outdoor tableware I’m pretty sure it’s rain-proof too 😉
