Vicky Pattison signs up for celebrity driving series – report
Vicky Pattison will reportedly learn to drive in seven days for a new reality show.
The former Geordie Shore star is the first contestant to sign on for All Star Driving Test, which will follow a host of celebrities being put through their paces behind the wheel, and at the end of each day, they will be rewarded with meals and spa treatments if they do well or will be given challenges such as changing a tyre if they do badly.
“Contestants will be put through an intensive course like nothing seen before,” a source for the show told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “There will be all sorts involved, from three-point turns to rally driving and off-roading in 4x4s… But it’s not just driving, as producers want it to be really wacky and light-hearted.”
According to the source, the contestants will face a series of non-driving challenges as well, include canyon swinging and a navigation trial, where they will be left in the woods in the middle of the night and have to figure out their way home.
The 29-year-old will reportedly be paid £5,000 and be given a Suzuki Ignis to use for six months in return for taking part in the show.
The show will air on E4 on weekdays evening and filming will begin later in June (17). The rest of the line-up of learner drivers has yet to be announced.
Vicky is no stranger to taking part in reality TV challenges – she was crowned Queen of the Jungle in the 2015 series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
She returned to Australia the following year to present the sister show Extra Camp with fellow winners Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash and comedian Chris Ramsey. Both Vicky and Chris announced they wouldn’t be returning for the 2017 series back in April (17).
Richard Hammond apologises to family for horror crash
British TV presenter Richard Hammond has apologised to his wife and children after breaking his leg in a terrifying supercar crash.
Hammond, 47, was filming a time-trial challenge for his motoring show The Grand Tour in Switzerland on Saturday (10Jun17) when he lost control of the Rimac Concept One electric supercar he was driving, plummeting down a hill and flipping the vehicle, causing it to burst into flames.
After the crash, the star posted a video on DriveTribes, the social media website he founded with his The Grand Tour co-presenters Jeremy Clarkson, 57, and James May, 54.
In the video, filmed from his Swiss hospital bed on Sunday (11Jun17), Hammond said, “Sorry to my wife Mindy and my daughters. I’m sorry for being such a colossal…”
His Grand Tour co-host May then finished Hammond’s sentence for him by holding up a copy of Dean Burnett’s 2016 psychology book The Idiot Brain.
The crash occurred after Hammond completed the Hemburg Hill Climb time trial challenge. Fortunately he escaped the vehicle before it caught fire and was found lying on the grass beside it.
He was airlifted to a hospital in St. Gallen, Switzerland, where doctors discovered his most serious injury was a fractured knee.
In the video clip, the daredevil presenter also thanked medical staff, adding, “I would like to thank all of the medical professionals who got me by air ambulance from the crash to the hospital and who have dealt with me ever since.”
After the accident, Hammond’s co-presenter Clarkson wrote on Twitter, “It was the biggest crash I’ve ever seen and the most frightening but incredibly, and thankfully, Richard seems to be mostly OK.”
The terrifying smash is not the first time Hammond has been seriously injured filming a motoring stunt for a TV show.
In 2006, he suffered life-threatening head injuries following a high-speed crash in a jet-powered car during the filming for the presenting trio’s previous show Top Gear. He was in a coma for two weeks but made a full recovery.
Clarkson, Hammond and May co-hosted Top Gear from 2002 to 2015, but left the series after Clarkson was sacked for punching a producer. They launched their new motoring show The Grand Tour on Amazon Prime last year (16).
Timothy Spall signs on for Hatton Garden TV drama
Timothy Spall and Kenneth Cranham will star in a new TV drama based on the audacious Hatton Garden robbery.
The Harry Potter star, one of Britain’s best-loved character actors, will lead a cast in a four-part drama based on the heist, which was masterminded by a gang of elderly criminals, dubbed the ‘Diamond Wheezers’, who drilled through concrete to empty a vault of jewellery and cash over Easter in 2015. The robbery captured the public’s attention and has inspired a series of TV and movie projects.
The new drama will be a series produced by ITV Studios, written by drama veteran Jeff Pope and directed by Terry Winsor.
Spall, Kenneth Cranham, David Hayman, Alex Norton, Ian Puleston-Davies, Geoff Bell and Nasser Memarzia will play the gang members who stole $32 million (£25 million) in the raid on a vault in London’s jewellery quarter. They were brought down by surveillance footage, number plate recognition cameras and phone evidence.
Scriptwriter Pope said in a statement that the research has blown away “many of the misconceptions” surrounding the robbery.
“This is one of the most high profile crimes of the last decade and we wanted to understand what had happened – and why it had happened,” he said in a statement. “It was not about a bunch of ‘loveable old blokes’… the planning was clever and the characters involved unique.”
“Jeff is a master at bringing these true stories to screen,” Polly Hill, head of drama at ITV, added, “I think the audience will be fascinated by this story and Jeff’s compelling dramatisation.”
Spall’s is the third Hatton Garden heist production to be greenlit – the first, The Hatton Garden Job, starred Larry Lamb and Phil Daniels and was released in April (17), while Michael Caine, Jim Broadbent and Ray Winstone have joined another film adaptation.
Filming starts in London this month (Jun17).
Olly Murs optimistic for reunion with estranged twin brother Ben
Olly Murs has got “no doubt” he will end his feud with his estranged twin brother Ben.
The Troublemaker star fell out with his twin Ben in 2009 after opting to perform on The X Factor instead of serving as best man on his big day. Ben dropped Murs and took his wife’s surname to further distance himself from the singer, and is now estranged from the rest of Olly’s family, which is said to be breaking their mum Vicky-Lynn’s heart.
However, the 33-year-old hasn’t lost hope and is confident him and his brother will bury the hatchet one day.
“I think there’s still a love there between all of us, it’s just about finding a resolution and finding that moment in time where you can make it all come together and be fine,” he told The Sun’s Bizarre Life podcast.
“I’ve got no doubt it will happen – I’m sure it will because we’re family and regardless of everything that’s happened I’m sure we can come to some understanding and love will come through.”
He explained his parents had urged him to keep their differences “behind closed doors” so he plans to make their possible reunion a private matter, adding, “Everything hopefully will work out.”
The former X Factor runner-up is also on the lookout for a girlfriend following his split Francesca Thomas 18 months ago because he is not enjoying the single life.
He even went on dating show Take Me Out last year (16) to help him find the one and he admits his appearance didn’t go down well on social media.
“I couldn’t believe the amount of stick I got for that. I had all these messages on Instagram and Twitter, and even my friends and family messaging me, saying: ‘Olly do you really seriously have to go on Take Me Out to find a girl?’ ‘You must be able to find a girl without going on a show,'” he said.
“I’ve met girls and had dates and I’ve done all that, but it’s just trying to find the right one. You have to go out and have fun with the wrong ones in a sense to find the right ones.”
Alan Carr to bring back The Price is Right
British chat show host Alan Carr is to host a new version of classic game show The Price Is Right.
The 40-year-old funnyman is to follow in the footsteps of broadcasting legends Bruce Forsyth and Leslie Crowther in presenting the U.K. version of the TV price quiz.
A pilot is being produced for Channel 4 by bosses at Thames television, the production company behind The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent, with plans for a full series advanced.
Alan told The Sun, “I’m so excited to be the new host of The Price Is Right. It’s proper bucket list territory for me as I loved it when I was growing up and now for me to be at the helm of such a legendary show is a dream come true.”
The U.S. version, which like its U.K. counterpart requires contestants to guess the price of retail items, is the longest running TV game show in history, having debuted in 1956.
A show insider revealed to the newspaper that Channel 4 bosses intend to make the show a fixture of their entertainment schedule.
“Alan is seen as the perfect fit for The Price Is Right. It’s an iconic programme so Channel 4 want to make sure they are getting it spot-on,” the source said. “All being well with the pilot, they will look at bringing it back properly for a full series and even celebrity specials.”
Alan’s new entertainment vehicle will see him move on from his Chatty Man talk show, which was axed last year (16) by Channel 4 executives after 16 series.
Bruce Forsyth, 89, who is perhaps The Price Is Right’s most famous U.K. host, has not appeared in public since 2015 due to ill health.
His version of the show ended in 2001, after a six year run. Bosses at Britain’s ITV network attempted to revive the show in 2006 with funnyman Joe Pasquale, but the show was axed the next year (07).
Mel Giedroyc has lost weight since quitting The Great British Bake Off
Mel Giedroyc has noticed a change in her waistline since leaving The Great British Bake Off.
The 49-year-old hosted the BBC baking programme with comedy partner Sue Perkins, with the pair one of the most beloved ingredients in the show.
However, when its move to Channel 4 was announced last year (16), Mel and Sue, as well as judge Mary Berry, all opted to stay with the BBC, while Paul Hollywood was the only original member of the cast to make the transition over to the new network.
Despite fans left distraught by the fact Mel and Sue will no longer be peppering the Bake Off with their hilarious anecdotes and double entendres, the pretty blonde has done her best to look at the positives – including the fact that she’s slimmed down.
When host Lorraine Kelly remarked to Mel that she “looked tiny” as she appeared on her morning show Lorraine on Thursday, Mel replied: “Well it’s because I don’t have cakes in my life anymore, Lorraine! I’m not doing Bake Off anymore. I was eating cake solidly for five months of the year.”
She did make an exception last week though, adding: “I had three birthday cakes last week for my birthday. One was full of custard!”
Paul will be joined by new judge Prue Leith and new presenters Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding when the show makes its debut on Channel 4 later this year.
While Mel didn’t comment on Prue or Sandi’s new gigs, she did praise The Mighty Boosh star Noel, telling Lorraine: “‘I worked with Noel Fielding recently… He kept that very very quiet!
“I am extremely fond of Fielding. I love the idea of him being in the Bake Off tent. It makes me laugh. He is great. It’ll be good to see how he deals with a croquembouche!”
When Lorraine commented that tall and slender Noel may also see his weight increase due to the sweet treats the cast and crew consume on the show, Mel admitted she had already given the comedian some advice.
“I said to him, ‘Noel, two words: Elasticated Trousers.'”
Danniella Westbrook’s facelift triggered by trolls
Danniella Westbrook underwent a facelift after being “trolled and ridiculed” by people.
The former EastEnders actress jetted out to Poland to go under the knife earlier this week (beg05Jun17) and has given The Sun Online an update on her status.
In photos she’s shared with the outlet, Danniella, 43, looks a little worse for wear with bruises around her eyes from where she’s had the skin tightened, but she feels confident the surgery will pay off.
“I woke up from the operation in so much pain, it was crazy how much I was hurting,” she sighed. “There were drains in my face, throat and neck – basically everywhere! I’m dreading them being taken out, but on the whole I feel amazing so I can’t moan too much.”
She explained that the criticism she received from trolls triggered her decision to get the procedure.
“I’ve been so ill the last eighteen months with my health and my teeth, then on top of that I’ve been trolled and ridiculed on social media and in the street. The pressure got so bad I had to go away and get surgery,” she said.
The blonde star has had a difficult 12 months, which saw her battle a number of health problems including suffering from borderline personality disorder (BPD) as well as go through a second miscarriage with her then-boyfriend George Arnold.
This isn’t the first time Danniella has altered herself and she’s been open about her previous surgeries, admitting on Celebrity Botched Up Bodies in 2016 that she had become somewhat addicted. Most famously she had her nose reconstructed after drug abuse left it damaged.
But she’s feeling positive about the future now, adding to The Sun Online, “I am feeling amazing – I knew I had to do this for myself.”
Stephanie Davis slams Marnie Simpson and Lewis Bloor’s ‘fake’ romance
Stephanie Davis has accused Marnie Simpson and Lewis Bloor of copying her and Jeremy McConnell by trying to forge a relationship inside the Big Brother house.
The former Hollyoaks star found love with male model Jeremy when they appeared on the celebrity version of the reality show last year (16). Geordie Shore beauty Marnie and The Only Way Is Essex hunk Lewis followed in their footsteps by embarking on a romance in the new series later that year. Despite an on-off relationship, Stephanie and Jeremy, who share son Caben-Albi, have managed to go the distance, while Marnie called time on her romance with Lewis after he was caught cheating on her.
And in her debut column for the Daily Mirror newspaper, Stephanie said Marnie and Lewis broke up because they had attempted to find love for the wrong reasons.
“If you’re doing it for the wrong reason it won’t last. Loads of people have tried to copy us since, just look at Marnie Simpson and Lewis Bloor! They were trying to copy me and Jez so badly that you could just see through it – and look what that happened,” she wrote. “Now, I wouldn’t change what Jeremy and I have, or how we met. It’s made us who we are, and I love that.”
The new series of Big Brother kicked off on Monday night, with a bunch of new hopefuls all aiming to make a name for themselves on the programme. The first romance of the house looks as though it’s going to be between Lotan Carter and Ellie Young, who shared a steamy kiss on Wednesday night’s episode of the show, but Stephanie had some advice for the fledgling couple.
“What I will warn all these girls and boys is that it’s so much harder on the outside,” she added. “You need to keep your feet on the floor, or things could go awry – your friends and family can’t be traded for anything.”
Body coach Joe Wicks signs up for Strictly Come Dancing – report
Body Coach hunk Joe Wicks has reportedly signed up for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The 30-year-old personal trainer and nutrition coach is said to have agreed to take a twirl around the dancefloor for the upcoming season. And according to the Daily Star newspaper, Strictly bosses are hoping Joe will be a ratings hit, with his good looks and effortless charm making him popular with millions of fans.
“Joe would be perfect on Strictly. “The bosses have been eager to make sure he signs the deal as soon as possible,” a source told the publication.
And fans can also expect their hearts to be racing by the end of the show, with costume designers apparently planning to show off as much of Joe’s toned physique as possible.
“They reckon he will be the hunkiest contestant to appear on the show. He would certainly get the ratings up – especially in the costumes they have planned for him. There will be a lot of flesh on show, that’s for sure,” the source added.
Hunks to have previously won themselves legions of new fans with sexy, shirtless displays on Strictly include Mark Wright, McFly star Harry Judd and, unexpectedly, Judge Rinder.
The news comes after Joe addressed speculation a Strictly appearance was in the pipeline, saying: “They have asked and I’d love to do it but I’m so busy so I’m trying to clear up the time.
“We’ll see, but I have my fingers crossed that I can make it work.”
Joe has become a household name thanks to his Lean In 15 cookbooks, the first of which sold more than one million copies in the U.K. – a feat only achieved by J.K. Rowling and The Girl On The Train author Paula Hawkins.
