5 Cracking Lakeland B&Bs

Welly's choice pick of B&B luxury.

1. Candlewyck Luxury B&B, Ulverston

A converted candle factory as its name suggests, this gem of a B&B is meticulously run by owner Sam Duncan.  Located just outside the market town of Ulverston in the Furness Peninsula, if it’s a luxury stay in rural idyll you’re after then Candlewyck is most definitely a crowd-pleaser.  Passionate about service and attention to detail Sam’s hostelry is more boutique hotel than traditional B&B.  Providing her guests with the finer touches such as White Company towels and locally-sourced Sedbergh Soaps, she rightly deserves the ‘luxury’ title.  Her Cumbrian Breakfast comprises of bacon and sausage reared right on the farm with milk produced from a local dairy up the road.  There are two rooms available in the main farmhouse and another in the cosy adjacent barn, all priced at £95 per night during the week and £105 Friday and Saturday.  A firm Welly favourite, we’re booking our staycation here very shortly!
